Higher Education LMS Course Development
developed asynchronous online courses
I have fully developed two asynchronous online Canvas courses designed to be completed over a period of fourteen weeks. Both of these courses were developed during my time at New York Institute of Technology and were built as first time online asynchronous versions of existing on-site synchronous courses. Each course was developed in collaboration with a faculty member who had previously taught the on-site synchronous version of the course, serving as the respective course’s subject matter expert. Furthermore, for each course I managed two student workers, assigning them to complete some of the more rudimentary tasks involved in course development.
Some of the highlights of these projects included:
•Convincing one of the course SMEs of the potential accessibility and generalized educational benefit of in-video quizzes, which I went on to develop in Kaltura
•Convincing one of the course SMEs of the potential accessibility and generalized educational benefit of video versions of traditional PowerPoint lectures, which I went on to create using Adobe Premiere Pro, as well as Canva to generate AI audio of each lecture’s script
•Providing the opportunity for my student workers to make meaningful contributions to the course development process while providing thorough oversight to correct any errors within these materials and offer student workers actionable feedback on their work
